Re: anyone out there with a destroyed back???
I am. 8 Years in retail carrying 50+ lbs of pet food up and down ladders has really screwed up my back. I can't even go shopping this time of year without having multiple spasms in my back.

Re: anyone out there with a destroyed back???
I am in pain too. I have worked long shifts on my feet for 10+ years. I am actually having an MRI on Thursday to see what's going on.
In the meantime I take an anti-inflammatory, Tylenol, and hot showers letting the water beat on my back.

Re: anyone out there with a destroyed back???
I had a car accident around 8 years ago and from that I have a number of herniated discs, and one deteriorating disc.
I have been to a chiropractor, and a physical therapist and they all told me I need to lose weight and excersize. Since I started doing both I have been feeling a lot better than I did before.
Walking really helped a lot. If I do get into pain, then I ICe and Take Tylenol.
The only time I am in serious pain is wheI get Sciatica. When it hits me I cannot move for like 2 or 3 weeks. It is the worst. Scott

Re: anyone out there with a destroyed back???
DH is the one with the bad back. He fell 20' off a ladder about 8 years ago. He has 3 herniated discs in his lower back. He has been in pain but he just thought he overexurted himself, not the weather

Re: anyone out there with a destroyed back???
I have a prolapsed disc that gives me a lot of problems, but I wouldn't say that my back is destroyed. Right now I have terrible problems with Sciatica and pins and needles in my toes, but I have started a medication (Lyrica, its a progablin) and I have started a course of acupuncture. So I hope this all makes a difference.
This all started when my son was about 12 months old, just a year ago. What a pain in the neck (well back actually)

Re: anyone out there with a destroyed back???
wow..I thought there would actually be alot more injured back people..u always hear about bad backs. I have to say...I take Topomax. Its a seizure drug that eventually cuts out all nerve pain and then I can go off completely---I did it last time and was pain free for over 2 years. This time I am nervous---I guess because I am up to 100 mg of Topomax and its not working...amongst muscle relaxer and if its real real bad a pain killer.. bad backs suck. I feel bad even complaining...I broke my upper-middle and lower---but my poor brother has MS and his is soooooooo bad its no joke so it puts it into perspective. thanks everyone!

Re: anyone out there with a destroyed back???
It is very interesting to hear about the meds that some of you are taking for your back problems.
My DH has taken topamax and also takes lyrica now, but not because of a bad back, but because of Guillian-Barre Syndrome.
The topamax didn't do it for him, even at very high dosages.
Lyrica WAS working well, but they keep increasing his dosage of that too and after about 3 months of the increase, it stops working again.
I really wish he didn't have to take anything at all!
