Spinoff to moving with a pet...
Hi there..we are (hopefully) moving into a house from an apt. with our one cat. Of course we are worried about the increased amount of space, but beyond that, we are thinking about where people keep their cat box. The food is an easy one..in the kitchen (there is a nook for it) but we don't want to put it in the den or in a bathroom as we do now...so the question is, where do you put the box?! Thanks for your help!

Re: Spinoff to moving with a pet...
we moved from a 1 bedroom apartment- to a 3 bedroom apartment
so we took the small 3rd bedroom- and gave that to the cat- (and storage)
so there litter box is in there- it's great- b/c I never smell it-

Thanks..only issue with the bedroom idea is that ours are actually all a good size and we have plans for them..as for the closet, if we can find one, it's not a bad idea...thanks, keep the ideas coming!

Re: Spinoff to moving with a pet...
We keep ours in the bathroom. It's actually in a closet in the bathroom, but I used to just put it behind the door or some other unobtrusive place. I just find it easier to clean in the bathroom cuz you can sweep up the scattered litter easily and you don't have to worry about it getting into the carpet.
The only other place I would put it is in a closet that isn't used regularly.
Just make sure the cat knows where the litter box is after you move it.

We have a door in the corner between our DR & LR that leaves the perfect space for the cat box. You can't see it unleses you are looking for it.

Re: Spinoff to moving with a pet...
We have a TINY house and we actually don't have any closets Anyway, we had one of these custom built and it's in our living room. No one even realizes it is a litterbox. I scoop min. 2x a day and do a full change with bleaching the box every other week, too, so it does not smell. We have the one with the shelves, I posted the other pic of the 'single' so you can see how the litterbox part works.

LOL, no, there's a little hole on the side that they go in and out of - you can see it in this pic better:

Thanks ladies! My friend built the cabinet one for us, but he used the ones sold on these 2 different websites as a guide: http://www.hidytidy.com/
http://www.catlitterfurniture.com/
We actually have 2 litter boxes...We also bought this litter box hider for $99 for our spare room. It's not quite as 'hidden' as the one in our LR but it still looks nicer than just having the box out: http://www.solutions.com/
