Where should I go for make up?

At most I wear make up once per month. I have no idea what looks good on me and I'm not very good at applying it. I'd like to start wearing make up at least when I go out. I'm not used to wearing make up so even a little seems like a lot to me. I'd like a fairly natural look, but I'd also like a nice going out look.

I've been thinking about checking out MAC. Is this a good idea or should I check out somewhere else? I've only bought make up a few times usually at Clinique b/c my skin is fairly sensitive. Is there a difference between the MAC stores and the MAC counters at the department stores? TIA for your help.

Since you really dont wear makeup, I would check to see where you can find a bare minerals counter.

Their makeup seems what would fit your needs.

Re: Where should I go for make up?

you should definately try a tinted moisturizer. a lot of companies make this but i think the best one is laura mercier.

you should go to the makeup counters and have then apply it for you, keep it on for the day and see how you like it. i would try clinique and mac like you said in your post. or you could even try sephora. good luck!

Re: Where should I go for make up?

I was not into make up until last year. I owned bronzer, 2 eye shadows, and mascara. A friend suggested bare minerals to me and I LOVE it. Go into the store at Roosevelt Field, they will show you how to put it on (super easy) and which colors work for you. It looks and feels like you have nothing on.

btw, i don't work for them, I just love the make up.

Bare Essentials . . .you can buy an introductory kit which shows you how to put on the makeup. So easy to use and good for your skin.

ETA: Bare Minerals and Bare Essentials same thing :)

Definitely Bare Minerals! I get it at Ulta or Sephora. So quick and easy, and difficult to mess up!

Bare Minerals is excellent. You feel like you're not wearing anything.

I also love Laura Gellar's baked collection.Chat Icon

another vote for Bare Minerals (Escentuals). I got my starter set at Ulta and they were happy to show me what colors work for me by applying it.

I can't say enough about this makeup. it's wonderful!

Re: Where should I go for make up?

Thanks everyone. I ended up going to MAC on Friday and was very happy with what the make up artist did. I also plan to check out Bare Escentuals/Minerals soon. Chat Icon

I was in the same boat as you. I would say go to Mac and have them try something on you. I also just went into a CVS one day and decided to experiment with the hlep of the girls on this board. I love how I wear my make up now. Especially coming from someone who never wore it.
