How bad is this?
I am 4 weeks, 5 days. Last night i ate swordfish for dinner. I had no idea that you couldn't eat swordfish! I thought it was just tuna and sushi.
So how bad is this?
Now i've heard that the baby doesn't share your nutrients until 6 weeks. Is this true? Would that put me in the clear? Freaking out here!

Don't worry. Eating it once is ok. Just stay away from it in the future.

Re: How bad is this?
The risk with Swordfish is mercury exposure -- but who knows what level your piece of fish had. So as long as you are extra careful to avoid any other foods with mercury I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe check in with your doctor via phone though to ask if there is a way to test levels in your blood -- mercury stays in the body for months, so if you were eatting a lot of fish like this before conceiving as well, it may add up.

It's ok, you are so early and eating it once is just fine.

I wouldn't stress it. I was eating tuna (the actual fish - not the canned version), everyday for a week before I knew I was pg (I was probably around 2 or 3 weeks at the time). Knock on wood, but it's never been a problem for me. My tests have all turned out normal so far!

You are fine - don't worry. Do you know how many mommies have done A LOT worse before they knew that they were preggers (including myself) and our babies are all fine.

Re: How bad is this?
My doctor told me that anything you do in the very beginning ( I think before 6-8 weeks) is no big deal because you dont even share a bloodstream with the baby yet. I had my hair colored the day before my BFP and had a glass of wine....
ETA: Think of all the women who got pregnant while drunk and their babies are fine!!

Re: How bad is this?
I ate any and everything I wanted while I was pregnant with both my kids. So long as it's in moderation, you'll be fine!
Stop worrying about it.

I'm sorry -- I was suggesting checking in so you could relax, not to freak you out!!!

I wouldn't worry at all. I always wonder, what about all the PG women in Japan? Do they stop eating fish too?
I would just be cautious going forward.
