Shrink-wrap for windows
Has anyone ever done this?
What exactly is it called and where can I find it?
I think we are gong to have to do this this winter to make the house a bit warmer (the windows are 77 years old! )

Re: Shrink-wrap for windows
we bought some at home depot a few weeks ago. I've never used it so don't know what to expect - it seems like a good solution to old windows but could look like saran wrap if done badly and we have no skill

Re: Shrink-wrap for windows
We do it until we can replace the windows and siding next year. We have horrible drafts.
We got it at Home Depot.

How do you find it? Does it make the house any warmer?

It's OK. It's not exactly looking great. It does look like plastic wrap. But it does the trick. I works great stopping drafts from our windows and loss of heat.

Re: Shrink-wrap for windows
I havent done it on windows, but I have done it on the AC's . All our Ac's are wall ones, & the one in living room is always a cold draft & its right about the couch .. The one i used is basically rolled out like saran wrap & then u cover what you want & take a blow dryer to it,, Viola , shrink wrapped.. It works like a charm

Re: Shrink-wrap for windows
We have done it to our in wall ACs and about 4 windows that are drafty. I used one of the kits above and I think they work great. Also once it is blowdryed and set you barly notice it and you can see thru it

Re: Shrink-wrap for windows
It's very easy to apply with a hair dryer. I would seriously consider replacing those windows with "E" rated windows in the spring. Make sure they are e rated so you can get the 500.00 tax credit.
