Re: So, if someone gave you some money

I'd start with the shoe department at Nordstrom, make my way over to the bags and then hit Bloomingdale's hard. Lastly, I'd get a few pieces from Anthropologie.

I love those stores but I was thinking a little more corporate. C21 is great though, I always find stuff there.

I usually buy shoes first (mostly online - Zappos, Endless) and then try to find outfits to match. I have a much easier time finding shoes that I like than clothes that I like (or that fit me well). Ann Taylor/Loft, Banana Republic, and J. Crew is where I'd head next.

If my closet went on fire and I needed a whole new wardrobe? I'd say 5K (including shoes). I work in a creative atmosphere where people are very fashion-oriented, we don't wear typical work clothes—no suits etc, so my weekend and work clothes are basically the same.

for corporate things, Macy's. I've always had good luck there with suits.

try Syms too

Check out Elie Tahari in Bloomingdales or Nordstoms....they make a great line of contemporary work friendly clothing!

I love Syms for suits. They have a section for petite suites which I need but they have an even better selction for non-petites.

Ann Taylor (not loft) can be good for stylish, yet professional.

I have trouble finding blouses though.

Ann Taylor....

Actually I'd go out to Tanger to get the most bang for my buck. I always did well at the Ann Tyalor and Ann Klein outlets there.
