Dumb Dog

Jake ate chocolate. I came home to find 3 boxes totally gone. They were up on the counter in the box and wrapped in plastic. We hadn't even opened them yet. How did he get to it? How did he even know what was in the boxes? So in total the most he could have eaten is 24oz, 8 of which was dark chocolate. Called the vet and they said to watch him. He is 70lbs so she said he should be fine. Pray I don't have to take him to the vet tonight!

ETA: When I called the vet the receptionist said I was the 5th phone call today about dogs and chocolate.

OMG!!!

I don't blame you for being really worried... I'll pray that he will be just fine. Luckily, he is a hefty weight so hopefully because of that it won't affect him!

Wow- I never thought about all the animals that may get into chocolate being around the house from Halloween.

aww.. hope your dog is okay..

Sounds like something my dog would have done, but he would have eaten the box too.. so i would have had no clue.

Jessi jumped on the counter...our high counter and got a hold of a cookie that DH brought home from work...she didn't eat it but I came home and found it under the bed.
In the past she has eaten Advil and some chocolate.
Its amazing that she has never gotten sick.

I try to be very dilegent in keeping things away.

Hope your doggy doesn't get sick!

Thanks everyone. He is fine. He was lethargic last night and threw up but today he is back to his old self.
