Need advice

I just found out im pregnant last week and im 6weeks todayChat Icon ...Im going to be a bridesmaid in a wedding on new years eve......now the real bachelorette party was in vegas a few weeks back (due to money i couldnt attend) the girl is having a second party next sat in the city dinner and drinks after.....now I def want to participate but I live on long island and I will have to take the train by myself, and since its too early to tell averyone, i wont be drinking and everyone will wonder what is up....now because im pregnant i really think i should just participate in the dinner portion and not the bar hopping after.....but i dont know what to tell her so she wont be upset...(she is very sensitive right now...) Thanks ladies

Re: Need advice

I went to a bachelorette party when I was about 6 months. Same ordeal city for dinner, drinks and dancing. Obviously everyone knew I was pregnant so it was different.

But personally I would go and tell her you havent been feeling well for a few days (you could even use the I'm on antibiotics bit). This will leave you open to not drink but also bow out early if need be.

ETA if she is a close friend, you could pull her aside and tell her but tell her that its too early to announce it so not to tell anyone. But you are telling her because you didnt want her to think you weren't enjoying yourself.

Re: Need advice

Could you just tell the bride and ask her to keep a secret.. Wedding time is a very sensitive time for some brides and they get offended over everything.. I think if you just tell her it will save you from having to deal if she gets upset..

Congratulations !!!!

Honestly I wouldn't make up stories that you're not feeling well because this may hurt her feelings. I would pull her aside and let her know the situation and that you don't want anyone else to know about it yet. If she's a good friend she will keep your secret and totally understand.

If I were you I would go to the party. Depending on how close you are to her I would eith confide in her about the pregnancy or just say you have a migraine and don't want to drink. If your concerned about being in a bar I wouldn't worry about that...

I don't think I understand why you 'shouldn't' go bar hopping now that you're pregnant. Is it just that you don't want people to question you? There are a few 'tricks' you can pull to keep it a little more secret. If you're a beer drinker, ask for an o'doul's in a glass and sip that through the night; if you're a mixed drink drinker ask for cranberry and seltzer with lime (yum Chat Icon) - looks like vodka and cranberry.

Go and have fun - in less than 9 months it'll be far more difficult for you to get out like this Chat Icon

well she is really not a "good" friend she is actually the fiance of my husbands friend, and my husband doesnt want any of the friends knowing so soon, im not concerned about being in a bar....my thing is ...i will have to come home on the LIRR by myself late, so thats why i wanted to just do dinner....the dinner reservations are for 9:30 so i dont see us getting done till maybe 11pm....thats all....thanks for all your suggestions, i may talk to my husband and see if we should tell them privately next week
