Triglycerides
DH just got a call from his doctor about blood work done last week. His Triglycerides are over 600!!!!! Myself and FIL have been telling him for years to stop eating crap!! Has anyone experienced this? Did you go on medication right away or change your diet? TIA

Re: Triglycerides
I'm a dietitian, triglycerides are more controlled by diet than medication if his other cholesterol levels are normal.
High triglycerides can be caused by an excess intake of refined carbohydrates- ie- sugar, white flour etc.
Its also related to fatty food intake, which is what most people think of first, but the refined carbs play a huge role.

Re: Triglycerides
Thanks!! I am taking him to my nutritionist next week. He does use A LOT of sugar in his coffee, can sit and eat a whole loaf of bread & sugar cereals He eats out all the time for lunch so I could not control what he had been eating but now I am taking control!!

Re: Triglycerides
They usually try diet and exercise first.. then if no change --- its meds time.
