Sharing my PG brain moment
I recall seeing a post a week or 2 ago about PG brain...well last night was hopefully my worst case. I was craving Thanksgiving dinner, so I went out after work and bought a turkey london broil, a couple of sweet potatoes, headed over to the canned veggies section for some green beans and was on my way all excited.
I then do my thing...scrub the potatoes, rub them with extra virgin olive oil w/ salt & pepper, break out some good sauvignon blanc to bake the turkey in, open the green beans, dump them in a pot.......... .......... ........I do not notice until I am rinsing out the can for recycling that I just opened a big honkin can of yams in light syrup. Did I just make sweet potatoes with a side of sweet potatoes? DOH!
Back to the store. When I was leaving, DH was so excited for our little Thanksgiving dinner that he asked me to pick up a pumpkin pie. Three grocery stores and a convenience store later, my pumpkin pie crusade ended, but I felt successful. That is until I was closing up the house for bed and noticed that he didn't even open it. Brat.
Can't wait to meet my or so I can tell bedtime stories about how he/she made Mommy an idiot for several months.

Re: Sharing my PG brain moment
Wow- you are fancy. I would have just gone to Boston Market. What is a turkey london broil? Does it actually taste like carved turkey? I need directions please.

For real, I AM fancy! I rock the kitchen to make up for my expanding waistline so one negates the other and I remain sexy.
Turkey london broil is the awesomest. It is in the poultry section near all the cutlets and whatnot and is packaged just like them, but it says "turkey london broil" on it obviously. And yes, it tastes like the best carved turkey you've ever had - I felt like a hero upon discovering it for the first time a couple of years ago. No directions necessary...just open, trim off unwanted fat, if there even is any, throw in an 8x8 pryex, pour in white wine until the top of the meat is covered. The better the wine, the better the dinner, so cheaping out doesn't help because I've tried it and regretted it...don't spend a million dollars though, Blackstone Sauvignon Blanc is only $10.99 and it comes out PERFECT. Bake at 375 and voila - your DH credits you as a culinary genius, and you never broke a sweat.

Re: Sharing my PG brain moment
I totally would have, but I was already heading back for the green beans anyway and DH cannot drive due to a medical condition, so I have to be nice....sometimes.

I love that you thought of that. I was in my socks last night because my feet were cold, BUT when I was making dinner for myself and 3 friends on Wed, I thought of that. I had the electric skillet going on 1 counter and something else sauteeing on the stovetop across the room while I was chopping on another counter.....barefoot and PG in the kitchen. I realized it and thought that, somewhere, my late father is laughing his arse off.

I'm always cooking barefoot in the kitchen and my dh is always pointing this out!

Re: Sharing my PG brain moment
I did this on Sunday!! I had the biggest craving for turkey, so I bought a whole turkey breast, made mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and corn and had myself a huge meal! I also COVERED it in Wistershire sauce. I litterally drowned my whole plate in it. So good!

Re: Sharing my PG brain moment
You know, at least you didn't make an entire wash without putting any clothes in the washing machine!!
But like you said, at least the insides of my washer are nice and clean now!

Don't worry- my kindness isn't alwasy through cooking. It's often represented through getting up to get him a beer.
