Calling for Bloodwork?
As I previously posted, DH and I saw RE on Thursday for initial consultation. Dr. said he would do bloodwork, find out where i was in my cycle and that he would know "where we stood" the next day. If he couldn't determine where i was in my cycle he would force AF and I could do day 3 sono and then start me on clomid. Am I the one to initiate the phone call for the blood work? I was under the impression that the RE was going to call me to discuss the bloodwork. This is me and DH's first experience with IF and I dont know what the correct protocol is. Now am I supposed to wait until day 1 of AF and make appointment regardless of bloodwork since they didn't call with the results. DH was originally supposed to have SA on Saturday but they called to rescheduled because they were overbooked. Now we have to wait until this coming saturday. Is all of this normal? When insurance says they will pay $10K lifetime does that cover more than one intial testing? My insurance requires referrals and I already had my OBGY send over 30 referrals. Are they able to transfer them to another facility? All of this is mind boggling to me. Please help!

Re: Calling for Bloodwork?
First, if you haven't heard from the doctor yet I would call his office. Typically you call for the 3 CD test as soon as you get your period - but sounds like you have to wait for them to trigger. Kinda weird about the S/A. I mean he just has to hand in his sample and they submit to a lab (or do the workup if they have their own).
As for the insurance - I would ask the doctor's office to help you out with this. My RE's office has been a great help.
Good Luck!

Re: Calling for Bloodwork?
First rule of dealing with ANY dr...YOU must be your own advocate!!!! Call, call, call!!! ALWAYS follow up, and do your research!!!
If you have 10k of advanced IF coverage, it goes a LONG way b/c diagnostic testing is not considered advanced...
