I am one of those "Cat Ladies"! Wanting a 4th cat!
Hello all! I currently have 2 kids and 3 cats, and I am itching to adopt a 4th cat. I know 3 should be enough, but I just love the little fur balls so much! I love their different personalities, I love their soft fur, their cuddles, their purrs… My 5 yo son has been saying he wanted and orange cat, so this morning I took the kids to the Animal shelter. I fell in love with this little girl cat, she is so unique looking…not quite orange, kind of a cream color, but solid not striped. All my cats now are solid colors, she would “match” so perfectly LOL! But the most important thing, she was so sweet! She purred and cuddled with me and let me hold her without squirming for as long as I wanted. The manager at the shelter was such a nice guy, he told me the whole story about the cat. She was owned by an old lady in her late 80’s who was having trouble taking care of herself, let alone the cat. Her neighbor was concerned for her because the lady was getting so stressed out about taking care of the cat that it was compromising her own health, so they finally brought it to the shelter. She is only 7 months old.
The problem, you ask? My hubby REALLY would rather not have a 4th cat. The first two he agreed to only because he felt they were meant to be; a stray had them in our back yard. The 3rd, I sought out and found on Craigslist. His main fear is that getting one more will upset the applecart and cause them all to start peeing all over the place.
So, I guess I"m asking for opinions, pro and con, of getting that 4th cat. We have no other pets (at least not mammals LOL, we have fish) and our 3 cats get along great and use their litter box every time. But I'm also religious about cleaning it out.
Is this some kind of addiction, wanting more and more cats?

Hm, if you have the space for it and are willing to care for the cats, why not get a 4th cat?
I have 2 now and want to get a 3rd... one is sitting right under my arm now as I type on my laptop. :D
I think cats are so cute but I do get where you hubby is coming from. The more cats you have, the more chances of accidents happening, esp. if one or more don't get along with the new cat. If you're prepared for that possibility, go for it.

Not at all!!!!!
I told my DH that I would love to adopt 2 more. We have one perfect little guy already - but I don't want to press my luck with my allergies.
I'm not sure about the odds of accidents if you have more cats. I grew up with 2 cats, they never went outside the box.
