When you have to cancel on someone....

Don't you love it when you call and you get their voice mail?

Very few things make me anxious. I have to say that I have no anxiety anywhere, but I always get a little anxious when I have to cancel on someone - whether personally, or for work. I always feel i'm letting someone down.

I guess its easier to do on voice mail then actually hearing their response immediately...

anyone else?

Chat Icon sorry i just think that this is funny because i do the same thing. i have friends who are easy going and will say ok, no problem, but then there are those who grill me and want to know exactly why i am cancelling and when we can reschedule.

um, lay off!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I always call at times I know they wont be there, but then pretend I'm disappointed - "Shoot - I thought I'd get you on your cell at 5 in the morning... look, I'm so sorry, but..."

Re: When you have to cancel on someone....

I have to say it depends. When I am totally heartbroken over having to cancel I want to talk to whoever so they know how upset I am to be cancelling. If I am just generally stressed and feeling bad that I have to cancel it doesn't matter to me as much if I can't talk to them. I only truly want VM when I'm cancelling something I didn't want to do in the first place!! Chat Icon

Yeah, for me I'm always paranoid that they won't GET their voice mail in time and then they will end up getting stood up. I like to hear their response to actually know that they got the message. Plus I like to hear someone's response to gauge what to say next. Like if they sound mad I'll apologize a few more times than I would on a message... things like that.

Yeah - thats sort of what I mean - I tend to do this for work more than personally. For friends, I try and call them a hundred times!!!

LOL!

I do this at work, too, when it's a call I don't really want to have to make. I come to the office super early so I know I'll get voice mail.

I do that too. I hope for the voicemail. Even worse, sometimes, I'll email if I know ahead of time (like the night before).Chat Icon
