vent about RSVPing.
I am throwing a babyshower for a friend. I sent 26 invitations 2 weeks ago. The shower is in two weeks. So far I have had three "no" responses. Thats it. 3 out of 26. I guess I haven't learned from the wedding invitations. Why can't peope RSVP? I made it so easy too, I put my email address so that people don't even have to call!
Its just going to be me and her at the shower lol!

OMG I know. I have thrown several parties recently, and I always get the bulk of the answers AFTER the RSVP date.

Re: vent about RSVPing.
It's soooooooo annoying. Less than half of our RSVPs were in by the RSVP date for our wedding. People are awful about it.
Almost no one on DH's side responded on time. Some just never responded at all.

I am an AWFUL RSVP-er I know it's rude and bad manners and I"m embarassed by it - but I just can't break myself of it !!-
UNLESS, you give me an email address. - Then I'm the 1st to RSVP - I'm in front of a computer all day, NO reason to not RSVP then !! -

Okay... b/c I honestly am curious and not trying to put you on the spot... just trying to understand - Why? Why can't you look at your calendar the day it comes, talk to your spouse, make a decision, and call that day or the next?
I know sometimes there are "ifs" that happen and take a couple of days to work out... but I don't see how making one call is such a huge deal unless you're absolutely not sure if you want to go or not.
I am honestly trying to understand what the issue is. I work 60+ hours a week, spend nearly all my free time and weekends out of the house tending to my horses, and I can still manage a phone call. If I let it go too long, I just forget... but if I take care of it right away, it's easy. So please just help us understand!!! Is it that you procrastinate and just forget about it? Is it that you don't know if you want to go?

I think you hit the nail on the head -if its not taken care of the day the invite comes, it goes on the back burner and is forgotten about... People just don't like making that phone call. Which is why I put my emal...

Re: vent about RSVPing.
Lauren my sister just went through the same thing. The RSVP date for my shower was *I think* October 15. A friend who was in Italy when the invites went out and came home on October 13 managed to RSVP on time - unlike 10 other people that had not called or emailed my sister by October 16 - the day after!!

Yup.
My SIL never responded to my shower, let alone sent a gift.
Just found out she didn't respond to her cousin's wedding either... and isn't going.

Re: vent about RSVPing.
why can't people RSVP! you're inviting them to a party, not asking them to write an essay
