As a parent, I already have eyes in the back of my head....  
I would go for an extra arm. Probaby just below my right arm. Two right arms would be handy, since I'm righty. It would also be less inconvenient than an arm in the middle. You couldn't lie on your stomach, and hugging would be awkward....

If it was on your back, you wouldn't be able to lie down on your back.... that's why these kind of hypothetical, imaginary questions need a lot of thought involved. 
I don't want to give an answer to a "what if" scenario, then have it actually happen.... pros and cons need to be weighed, options considered, etc.
