talk to me about the bundle me

I think I want to get one today since the weather is supposed to turn cold overnight.

Is it safe to use these instead of a jacket? Does it stay on the car seat - or do you have to put it on/take it off every time you use it.

Do you layer under it or is it as good as a jacket?

It stays in the car seat - I've been using it for a few weeks now - it's perfect. I don't put him in a jacket - just his outfit and he's perfect!Chat Icon

what is the deal with safety though - I have heard it comprimises the safety of the car seat?

I took Jeremy home from the hospital in it... it was about 25 degrees and WINDY when we left. He was toasty warm. Its sherpa lined with Fleece outter. Holy warmth.

The car seat companies say that anything that is between the baby and the seat is bad. BUT with that thinking, what would you do with a coat on your child? If they were not a safe item they would be pulled from the shelves. JMO

Jen, also check out "Toastie Toddler", not their older model but the "couture" model. It is so warm and fabulous, lined with faux fur. The reason why that one is awesome is because it is very large and can last until Talia is four. You don't have to keep getting new ones. And it never hurts to look trendy....LOL!!! Hell, I want to climb into one of those. Another one is 7am enfant, but I don't think they are as good. JMO.

It's so nice and warm. I still put a light jacket or layer the baby's outfit but that's because he's not wearing anything really wintry yet and that way while he's at the sitter, she can take layers off if he gets warm.

I don't think there's really an issue with safety. The car seat straps seem to function just fine with the BundleMe in place (there are slots that you pull the straps through). I don't see how it would be any different than putting a coat on the baby. Actually, I could see a coat being more of a safety issue than the BundleMe.

I see a number of you comparing to the safety of coats, and you are right -- car seat technicians will tell you to remove a puffy winter coat in the car as well.

I use the bundle me for walks in the stroller. In the car seat, nothing thicker than fleece.

Re: talk to me about the bundle me

We have the bundle me and we use it on really cold days. Once i put it in I left the bottom piece on the car seat and havent taken it off yet- and only zip on the top piece on when it's really cold, since we haven't needed it every day yet. But when I do use it I just put her in a sweater, put a light recieving blanket over that, then zip up the bundle me. I probably dont' even need the blanket though because it's really super warm but I'm paranoid about her getting cold.

I wish I had the bundleme light though for this type of weather. Both are good to have I think.

Re: talk to me about the bundle me

I LOVE it!!! Its so easy to take Julia out in it with out having to put a bulky jacket on her. My sister used it with both of her kids and they never got sick over the winter time, and she had 2 winter babies! It is safe for the carseat too, and so easy to put on. Chat Icon

Re: talk to me about the bundle me

I used the bundle me when andrew was a newborn b/c it was winter and really cold. its not a pain if you leave it in the car seat. when the weather got nicer i used to use it in his stroller for walks.
