Sonos and full bladders?

I have my Level II on Nov 7th. I have to go with a full bladder...which was an absolute nightmare the first time...I thought I was going to pee my pants in the waiting room...lol. I know i've heard some people say to drink orange juice to get the baby moving. My question is do I have to drink water or can I drink OJ. I'm assuming a full bladder is a full bladder doesn't matter what is in there...am I correct?

I was actually told to empty my bladder for my level II...and I did drink orange juice on the way in. I wanted my baby to be moving around so that she'd show us the goods. Chat Icon It worked!

Full bladder just means full bladder - doesn't matter what you drink.

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

Right, as long as it's full, it shouldn't matter what it's full with!

I was told before the 3D sono to drink OJ.

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

I've read that too, about some people having to go with a full bladder, but I was actually made to stop and go pee in the middle of my level II because they didn't want a full bladder. They wanted her to move more and the bladder was in the way.

But OJ is to get the baby moving. But I figure a full bladder is a full bladder. Doesn't matter whats in there.

Really? I remember the first time I had to go with a full bladder she told me it was the only time I would have to do it. Then when I made the appt for the 20 week one the girl said full bladder. I'll have to ask. If I don't have to I don't want to...I was literally doing the pee pee dance with tears in my eyes in the waiting room because I had to go so bad...lol. I even asked if I could let a little out and was told no...lol.

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

If I were you (and this is what I did too btw) I'd go in with a full bladder. If you're lucky like I was, the sono tech will tell you to empty it. To spare yourself the agony, ask the tech right before you get started.

I was never told to come with a full bladder either, though I have read some women need to do this.

Maybe call one more time and confirm? It does seem like some places need you to do this and some do not, I have no idea why.

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

When I went for my level II they told me to drink some water before coming in. Halfway through the sono though the tech asked me to go empty it because she couldn't get all the measurements and hoped with the bladder emptied it might move the baby around.

I would def call before I go or go with a full bladder and ask the tech right before you start so you can go if you don't need to have a full bladder.

7 years ago I was told to drink 32 ounces of water before level 2. For my 2nd pg I wasn't told that. I just bring a water bottle with me in case she needs me to drink up.

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

For my Level II I wasn't told anything about a full bladder at all, and the tech had no problems. However, for my 32w growth sono I was told to drink 32 oz a full hour before and hold it. I told the receptionist that was near impossible, and didn't do it.

When I got on the table the tech mentioned immediately that the bladder wasn't full and said as a result she couldn't see the cervix. To make things worse, the written report that went to my OB said I had low amniotic fluid and that fluid was present in the baby's bowels. It caused quite an uproar and I wound up having a second growth sono the same week. For that one I was told 16 oz of water an hour before. The tech did a preliminary scan and then let me empty the bladder before continuing.

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

I was told that it was not necessary to have a full bladder for the Level II but the tech would get better pictures if it was full.

Maybe it depends on the tech and/or the machine they are using?

Let me know what they say, because I was also told full bladder. Last time, my bladder wasn't full when she sarted, bc they saw me early, and I got a scolding from the sono tech with the quaf.

My doctor didnt tell me either way. All I know is that I have to pee in that damn cup everytime I go for an appointment before I see the doctor.

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

I'd call the doctor's office ahead of time. Sounds like some want a full bladder and others dont. I know that for my ultrascreen they told me not to fill up my bladder intentionally, but that once I got there I would not be able to use the bathroom. They didn't require a completely full bladder - why put yourself through that if you don't need to?

Re: Sonos and full bladders?

I wouldn't drive yourself crazy trying to keep a full bladder. I have not needed a full bladder for any sonos and I have had atleast 15 so far this pregnancy. Drink a little water beforehand and some OJ and see how it goes. Just bring an extra bottle of water with you.
