Tell me about NSAL
DH and I are strongly considering adopting a dog. We want to go to NSAL this weekend to check it out.
What can we expect when we go there???
thanks!

Re: Tell me about NSAL
Last time we were there was 5 years ago when we adopted Jessi. The puppies are in two large rooms and you can go and take them out of the crates if you are interested. Once you decide to adopt that pup, they will ask you for three references to call. Bascially to make sure you can provide a loving home for that puppy.
I've always had a pleasant experience there. Hope you do too!

I have had a few not so good experiences there. But maybe you will have better luck. Little Shelter in Huntington is a great shelter. Good luck!

We adopted 3 puppies from NSAL, the first one was along time ago and was ill, but we didnt hold it against them.. and then the 2 after that lived a long time and were terrific pets.. My sis ex now adopted a dog from Bide a wee also and she was a great dog who also lived a long time. The one we have now we got from a store (national kennel club)--we got there b/c nsal didnt have any small dogs. Good Luck
I also heard Little Shelter was a great place to adopt a loving friend.

I have not had the greatest experiences there either.
You can get a great pet from any shelter though, Little Shelter is great, so is Bide-a-Wee, and don't forget all the town shelters!

Congrats on deciding to adopt!

Re: Tell me about NSAL
Jake is from NSAL. We had a great experience with them. They let us take him into a play area and play with him. They even showed up at our house two months later to do a home check.
