What do you think?
Me and DH have picked out a stove and it's $100 more at Home Depot then at Lowes. I rather go through Home Depot. Do you think they will lower the price if i bring in the lowes printout?? Does anyone know if they price compare?

Why wouldnt you want to go through Lowes? For the difference of $100 I would go through Lowes. I dont know if Home Depot will lower the price for you Scott

Re: What do you think?
I'm not sure if Home Depot will beat a competitor's price...but, just out of curiousity, why wouldn't you go with Lowe's?

I would go with Lowes. I happen to like Lowes more than HD but go to HD out of convenience and because they have more locations.

We got a door through Lowe's that caused us two and a half months of agrivation before the people finally came in to install it. And not only that but i got the run around at Lowes and some people were down right nasty and lied straight to our faces.
Both me and DH swore we would not use them again for any type of installation.

We never had a problem from Lowes and that is where I got my sliding doors from. They delivered them.....the day they were supposed to
We are actually going to be ordering a counter top through them this week Scott

The installation isnt done by people that work for lowes...they sub contract the work out Scott

Oh i know they do that. Just an inkling of what we went through.
When we first went to get the door we were told it had to be professionally measured and had to pay $30 to get it done. The measurer never called until I called Lowes to complain. He finally came.
We purchased the door and installation on August 13th and were promised that someone would call within a week. We waited three weeks and called Lowes. They sent me to the door section to which the guy replied "I've had it for a week, it's not my job to find out what's wrong with the installation." So i called back a manager who said they would have someone call me by the next day. No call. I call again - another manager, say the same thing - no one calls. I call again.....this person was rude to me and sends me to the installation center where the guy says "something is wrong here, I'll take care of it and call you back". Never does. So i called national in the beginning of October to complain. She says she will look in on it and get back to me. She calls back and says someone will be contacting me within 24 hours and if no one does call her back.
We call her back after not hearing from anyone. The same woman answers and is like i never told you 24 hours. That is when i flipped out. I said if i don't have someone calling me within 48 hours to set up an appointment I am going to cancel this freakin order. Finally a manager calls me and starts blaming the outside installer that is now no longer working for them. I finally just say "Listen i paid YOU the money for installation not the installer, you are to blame in my book". Finally a week later an installer comes to my house and installs the door in about 1 hour time. So i ordered the door on August 13th and got it installed on October 23.
Me and DH swore off Lowes for installation purposes. Errr it still gets me so mad (as you can see)

Scott is right. I would def complain to Lowe's so that they remove the contractors from their list.
Sorry you had a bad experience.

Re: What do you think?
I wouldn't use HD. We had A LOT of problems when we got a stove and dishwasher through them. It took 3 visits to get the stove right, 2 for the dishwasher and with the dishwasher I ended up needing a new one installed from the manufacturer since the one HD delivered had a HUGE gash in the side and flooded my kitchen.
Their subcontractor is terrible, but they are a national company that has a contract with HD corporate, so they don't care if you complain. They know they won't lose their contract. When the dishwasher company was here they told us to NEVER use HD, they are always having to service new appliances that they just installed.
Lowes (and other local stores like PC Richard) subcontract to several different local installers. For example, Lowes uses about 10 different carpentry companies for door installation, we just had 2 doors installed by them with no problem. I'd definately let them know that the contractor they sent you wasn't very good.

Re: What do you think?
I would honestly try PC richards. The dishwasher I saw in Homedepot was $999 and I ended up getting it in PC for $749. IF you are set on getting it at homedepot go to lowes.com and in the search field type mover and there is a link for new home owners u put your old address and your new address and they email you a coupon for 10% off. Home depot takes these coupons... They take all competors coupons.
At least you can save the tax on it.
