We built our Firepit today!
It was my Birthday present from my IL's
And our deck is finished....

Misty jut has to get her face in all pictures
And it wasn't hard at all. We measured out the circle with a stake and string and dug it out a little. Then we spread sand across the whole bottom to make it level and then just layered the "bricks" around. We didn't cement them cuz we left little gaps so the air can get into the pit and keep the fire burning.
DH's uncle built the same kind of pit up in CT and I loved it, so we just followed his idea.
