cvs and stop and shop has a stand with gift cards for various stores. would you buy the gift cards there instead of at the actual store

Re: Gift cards
They are the same cards you find at the store itself. Only difference is you have to pay a "service fee" to CVS for purchasing it there.
I bought an Amex gift card from Sop and Shop and had to pay an extra $2.50.

Hmm.. are you sure that's not just for the Amex card? I bought a Best Buy certificate there, and I don't remember seeing a service fee. I remember one Xmas I got amex gift cards, since people could use them just like cash... and for each card I had to pay 2 dollars service fee, even though I was getting them directly from Amex!
I was so mad - since it's 'just like cash' I should have just given cash.. and saved myself the fees and shipping.

Re: Gift cards
I don't buy them at CVS or other places because I read something about people taking the card #s off of them, checking online to see if they have been activated and then using them.
I generally only buy them from the store the card is from, where they are right next to the register.

Re: Gift cards
I actually just bought a bunch of them at CVS. Not only do you pay a service fee for the American Express ones. . but the more the GC is for . . the more the fee is. Not sure if there is a fee on the others. sometimes the convenience is worth the few extra bucks.

Re: Gift cards
I just bought 2 at CVS last week for my 13 year old cousin's birthday. I like that they have such a variety. I bought an Itunes one and a movie one!
