Cat dandriff
Anyone have this issue? One of my black cats has really bad dandriff on his back. He's a bit pudgy so I don't really want to add oils to his diet.

Re: Cat dandriff
Cats tend to get dandruff when they are stressed, is he stressed about something? It will go on it's own, try brushing him.

Re: Cat dandriff
Chilly has always had a bad case of dandruff..I have to order shampoo...She is a black and white female and always one of those allergic cats people can't stand but so cute... I looked in Petco and couldn't find anything...if you do let me know the name brand. Thanks!

Re: Cat dandriff
I brush the little guy every day... it doesn't go away and they are big flakes, maybe it's not dandriff - could it be another skin condition? He's a funny cat, he is easily scared, but I wouldn't call him stressed. He seems happy as long as the food dish stays full. He loves to be brushed, but I'm not sure I would bath him myself, I've thought about getting him bathed at the groomer we take our Persian to. I feel bad for him. He's due for the Vet in November so maybe I'll have to ask then... if I get any good advice I'll post.

Re: Cat dandriff
I have a fluffy short hair who is a big boy and he gets dandruff. I changed his food and took him to the vet. He had hypothyroidism and now is on meds. The dandruff seems to have gotten a lot better.
Some types of kitties may have dry skin and need different nutrition.

Re: Cat dandriff
My moms cat used to get this. he was black and had large flakes on his back by his tail.
It was pretty gross actually - it was way beyond the dandruf stage. my mom took him to the vet. They changed his diet, and gave her shampoo. It got better - but it was a chronic condition that would come and go. He was in no discomfort though -
