They are starting you out low - that is good. Good luck - the first one is the hardest. The rest are a breeze LOL.
Tonight is my 12th shot this month

Re: 50 iu of follistim
Don't worry, you'll get used to it fast...this past month I was giving myself injections at work and while visiting my mother in the hospital.
You should have seen the nurses face one night at the hospital when I asked her for alcohol pads and she asked me why.

No, it's my second cycle. My first they started me a little higher and I produced too many follies (9 mature) so my cycle was cancelled. I was on 112.5 iu of Gonal-F for 11 days last month, then the Ovidrel. This cycle I started at 37.5, then 75, now back at 112.5. We should know by Wednesday if I've overstimmed again and we'll be cancelled. Hopefully starting out slow has prevented that. My doctor said if I produce 3-4 he'll let us go ahead and BD or maybe IUI (trying to convince DH to do an IUI along with the BD, although that wasn't the original plan).

Hopefully starting out low did the trick for you. I would be so upset if I overstimmed. I guess since you didn't respond on the clomid they were unsure how you'd do on the injectibles. Do you know if it is very common to overstim on injectibles? Is your DH against iui? good luck to you.

I hope it worked too. When he told me last time that I overstimmed and we were cancelled I was so upset. I do know that women with PCOS have a tendency to overstim on injectibles but they can play with the dosage and try to get it right. Honestly my RE said our best bet is IVF since I am such a good responder, but we have to wait till January to do it (paying out of pocket). So for the next month or so we're just playing with the dosage and seeing what happens.
No, my DH has nothing against IUI. We just originally said that we'd try timed BD since our only fertility problem (so far) is that I don't ovulate on my own. He thinks he has supersperm that will definitely get where they need to go so IUI isn't necessary . But I've been thinking what if we do one IUI and then BD like crazy and then get pg, we'll never know which one actually did it, you know? I'm sure I can convince him its a good idea...especially if I end up doing nearly 20 days of shots.

I think that is a good idea. Why not it can't hurt. You have a few months to try different strategies. hopefully it works b4 january.

Re: 50 iu of follistim
I was so scared the first time I did my first injection, then I realized what a baby I was being.
I started out at 50 also, my doctor wanted to keep it low because we didnt know how my body would react to it.
Good Luck!!!

Re: 50 iu of follistim
Congrats!!! I just did mine too. My first one was so funny...DH was even more nervous than me I think...he was trying to be gentle and he sort of jabbed me a little and I jumped...he was like "stop jumping you're screwing me up!!!" and I was like "just do it already stop being a p*ssy!!!" lol we were cracking up. Now its old hat at this point.
I agree about the IUI...and its covered by insurance, and my RE can do it out of the Garden City office (we wouldn't have to go to the NYC office). We'll see, I'm trying not to get my hopes up that we will be able to go ahead and not be cancelled again...
