Any Guitar Players?
My DH wants to learn to play (so he can sing to our baby-to-be)
Can you make any recommendations on how to get him started? I thought it would be agreat gift for him to thank him for how great he's been so far through the pregnancy.
Open to used guitars too.
TIA!!!

You can go to Sam Ash and they have starter kits for like $350!! I did this a few years back and got a fender with an amp. for that price. I also bought the DVDs on how to teach yourself to play. I would suggest lessons though cause it it soooo hard.

The Guitar Center in Carle Place is a great place, too. He can test out instruments and buy a book to teach himself.
When I moved in with DH (FH at the time) he had a drum set and electric guitar. I found lessons online and taught myself how to play both. If he does not know how to read music, then definitley try the online lessons.
Good Luck

Thank you for the info! $350. hmmmmmmm, I was hoping a little cheaper. Lesson will have to wait a little, at least until we get settled with our move out-of-state.

Re: Any Guitar Players?
If he is going to be singing to baby, I recommend an acoustic...(with an electronic pickup for other purposes).
I'm not sure how much you want to spend. I highly recommend a Guild guitar. These are made of beautiful wood and have inlay designs. They have a deep tone, and can be played loud or soft very well. I went to Sam Ash in Manhattan and tried out almost every acoustic. I have the Guild DC5 acoustic with electronic pickup (you can plug it into an amp). It's a little expensive. A used guitar shop in Manhattan told me Guilds sell well.
The model numbers change every year. The best match I could find for mine on the Guild website is here. Though I can't be positive. link

Check this out!
I'm a drummer & play a little guitar. I've seen this guy's infomercial. Looks pretty easy and inexpensive.
Interesting! Is that a pretty good guitar?
I saw a "This First Act 41” acoustic guitar" with hard case for $130, but I know NOTHING about what to look for in an acoustic guitar.
My DH said he likes this one guitar but I don't know if that is a good one either.

DH plays the guitar and he said this is a decent guitar for beginners.
Good luck!
