should I go to iui or wait?
Hi,
I need some advice; I am 35, going on 36 in a few months. After a pretty long time trying, I got pg in May, but m/c in late June. We are now on month 3 of trying post m/c with no success. I know I am impatient, but I am just already getting frustrated. I went to see an RE last month, had an hsg last month, tubes are clear. DH had a SA back in May (right before I got pg). Count was about average, but what they consider "low end of average". All other aspects of the test were fine. Anyway, this RE is suggesting clomid with an IUI if I did not get pg this month. Well, AF is due tomorrow and HPT shows negative, so I need to make a decision. Should I jump into Clomid/IUI or try on my own a few more months? Will the Clomid/IUI give me that much of a better chance of conceiving? What is involved as far as doctor visits?

The Clomid/IUI gives you a much better chance...you get better follies from Clomid and the IUI gets the sperm right into the uterus so half their battle is done.
Your age is a big factor...trust me, I know.
You don't want to waste time cuz your chance of getting PG reduces as you get older.

I agree with everything Gerty said. IUI might reallly be able to help you.
Also, would you consider IUI with Injectables?

I agree too. If you have had all the initial bloodwork, you will most likely have to come in the day you are supposed to start Clomid for an u/s and b/w. you will take your prescription and come in a few days after for another u/s and b/w. you will keep doing that every day or every few days until they feel your follicles are mature. then they will trigger you and come back for the IUI. If not, you will go in for the IUI after a + OPK. that has been my experience.

I agree with Gerty as well. I always ovulated on my own but took Clomid to help with my after O progesterone levels and it helped A LOT. I actuially got pregnant on my 2nd month but it was ectopic...

Hormone injections to stimulate more follicles. Most RE's will move to this method if you don't get PG within a few months on Clomid. Clomid thins your endometrial lining with continuous usage so they will switch to different technique if you don't get PG.
