Re: What do i say to get out of this?
I would go regardless. Even if its not for you, its always great to practice going on a interview. Plus, you never know. It could be your dream job and you would never know if you don't try.
Not to mention, if you blow it off this late, it makes you look bad and you never know when it will come back to haunt you. My old secretary was great, but she called in sick on her last day. My new firm needs a secretary, but I won't recommend her because of that.

I'd go anyway. If you don't care too much about impressing them, I'd still wear make up etc, but be as professional as you normally would.
Don't go overboard being someone you're not. Maybe the HR person is just exaggerating, b/c they may have gotten some bad candidates.
Do you know what kind of company it is?

I would go. You never know. Maybe the person that told you about the interview and the HR person was just trying to give you some interview dress pointers. I had head hunters tell me dont wear pants, be presetable, etc...and when I got to the place everyone was casual. So they may have just been looking to give you some pointers.
Dont judge a book by it's cover It could turn out to be an amazing job

Mention to me that--I should be business dressed (duh!) no skin showing, if I have a high collar thats good---no real makeup, toned down jewelery, hair neat and down and professional...it just sounded sooooo snooty something about it has totally turned me off and honestly that "style" is not my personality.. ( I FEEL LIKE IM NOT THOROUGHLY DESCRIBING THE TONE AND SNOOTYNESS--BUT TRY AND IMAGINE IT LOL)
These are pretty much standard instructions any recruiter would give a candidate. It's not personal.
I found it hard to understand the beginning of your post, but it seemed like your friend (not you) knows the HR person and your friend was relaying what the HR person told him/her. You don't know the HR person, right?
