Unemployment ?
Does anyone know if you are collecting unemployment and then move out of state, can you continue to collect?
Is there a rule against relocating?

I don't think there is... My dad is in a similar situation right now. I'll try to ask him if I talk to him today, but I don't think there is a rule against it.

I don't think so. I moved to NJ and was able to collect unemployment.

I collected unemployment from CT and moved back to LI during that time and there was no problem

Yes, you can still collect. I moved from NY to Mass and continued to collect my NY unemployment. I did let my local unemployment office know that I was moving and gave them our new address so that they didn't summon me for those "get re-employed" seminars..

good to hear. Mom and Dad relo'd from AZ and Dad was able to collect, but it's been 2 weeks and he hasn't received his check. It's supposed to be direct deposited.
When he is on hold with AZ employment, it can take up to 2 hrs to get a human on the phone!!!

I will be moving while still receiving unemployment. Yay, that is one thing so far I like about dealing with the state.

Susan - also I believe job search,moving expenses for a job are tax deductible. Makes sure to check with an acct.
