Bugaboos
Anyone play around with the Bugaboo Bee yet? DH is insistant that we register for a Bugaboo stroller (I have NO clue where he heard this name from). I know they are like the #1 most expensive stroller on the market right now but is it worth all the hype? I did a little investigation and the Bee seems like a good buy but I'm concerned about putting a newborn in there. The seat looks awfully rigid and not "newborn friendly"..

Re: Bugaboos
I don't think the Bee is for newborns. I think they made that stroller to compete with the Maclaren umbrella strollers. The Bee is very light weight. It's more of a second stroller.

Re: Bugaboos
Honestly, the Bugaboo got horrendous reviews in Consumer Reports. I'd do some research before registering / purchasing an $800 stroller that they basically called crap.

Re: Bugaboos
I looked at the Bugaboo frog & was not really impressed. I thought it looked like a robot. The cradle & stroller parts are two separate pieces. I'm sure it's good but seemed a bit too much for me - price and pieces.
I registered for the Peg Perego Centro. Hopefully it will work for us.

Re: Bugaboos
I have done some research on the Bee and the US has a diiferent version from the UK due to safety standards.
It can be used from birth but the US version has these "safety wings" on the sides that are apparently not comfy for the kids.
Most of the reviews I have read have been negative.

WOW, you are already looking at strollers and thinking about registering???
Is that something we should be doing already? I too am a little over 8 weeks. I thought I had plenty of time for that kind of stuff and also thought most people wait until they are at least out of the first trimester. But what do I know, this is my first time. TIA!

Dont worry you have plenty of time! DH and I already started our stroller search too. There are just so many out there, it can be overwhelming. Depending on what you are looking for, a stroller might end up being an investment, and it would def stink to spend hundreds on something you hate because you didnt do your research.

Re: Bugaboos
I dont have one, but some mother in my neighborhood has one and i see her walking and running with it, so i guess it handles okay.. I just cant see spending that much money on a stroller. I agree doesnt look newborn friendly, but i havent heard of any recalls on, so must be.

No no no. We were in BRU searching for a gift for a friend of mine and it started his registering gears turning again. I don't plan o touching a scanner until we're at LEAST 19-20 weeks..

You're a lucky woman. When we registered for our wedding, it took all of 30 min with the gun before he started scanning people's butts and 250 napkin rings, 500 candles... Such a butthead

Re: Bugaboos
My DH was completely uninterested in the baby registry process, so good for you that yours is interested! I told him he can't complain about any of the items I choose--this is something only I can do.
The only thing he has shown much interest in is the monitor--I think it's because it's a gadget and he likes gadgets.

Oh, phue! Same here I don't plan on thinking about that kind of stuff unitl at least the wintertime... January/February. Still just trying to plug through the 1st trimester. I'm lucky I finish out the work day and get a meal on the table!

I agree...it's also $529 which is $200 more than the Maclaren.

Re: Bugaboos
As someone who loved my Bugaboo, I say get a Maclaren instead of a Bee...its like the first version and there are going to be lots of problems to iron out...the Maclarens are fantastic pieces of kit too.

Re: Bugaboos
I have a Bugaboo Cameleon and love it so far - no complaints. I do live in NYC though so it may be different if you are in LI because it is bulkier and less transportable than the alternatives.
