MTV Discussion
The other day there was a post about a show on MTV being appaling and what not. I was thinking about the "truth" advertising that is always on the channel. I applaud trying to get kids to not smoke but then to direct them to a website whadafxup.com Seems silly, does it not? Or am I misprouncing what the website is supposed to sound like

Re: MTV Discussion
Why is it silly to direct them to a website that has anti-smoking literature, fact sheets & posters to download?
I mean - other than the fact that the website name is a little off but certainly memorable

Honestly, I hate this channel. I think it is so hypocritical. Yes, it does the truth campaigns and years back, it gave us the State (We're gonna go to the zoo and watch the monkeys doin' it!!!) but the garbage that is on this channel is garbage yet so many teens are looking to the channel as a reference for life.

ITA. The reality is that MTV does not determine when the commercials are placed. The Cablevision corporation does. The "TRUTH" ads are sold in such a way that they target teens, so they are on the N, MTV and several other channels that have a high concentration of 13 - 21s.
And I think that the TRUTH campaign should re-think their web address. JMHO.

Re: MTV Discussion
Anything that gets teens (or anyone for that matter) to an anti-smoking website is fine in my book.
I think the name probably draws even more to look at it.
The more the better.

Re: MTV Discussion
The name just rubs me teh wrong way. It seems to be encouraging cursing (or cussing, if you say it that way).

Eh, I just think it's a marketing technique. They are really trying to grab the interest of their target audience. I mean it's an anti-smoking campaign, not a morality campaign... anything to appear "cool".
