Convection Ovens
We just bought a gas convection oven, to be delivered later this week. Now I'm driving myself crazy wondering if its really worth it...
Does anyone have one? How do you like it? Does it really make a difference?

Re: Convection Ovens
I don't have one but my parents do. My mom uses it a lot to defrost things quickly. If you decide last minute to pull something out of the freezer its great. I don't think she ever realy uses it for cooking.

Re: Convection Ovens
I have a GE Profile electric convection oven and I love it for baking! Things cook more evenly and much faster. The fan circulates the hot air, so things cook faster and more evenly. It makes more noise though than a regular oven.

we have a convection oven. It hasn't seen much use yet. Its a JennAir duel fuel, and I haven't noticed it to be loud.

Re: Convection Ovens
My parents LOVE their convection oven!! They cooked the turkey for thanksgiving for the last 2 years, it took a little bit longer than their old electric, but very worth it!
Their stove has both options=convection or electric.

Really? I thought convection was supposed to take less time...

I think it was "user" error We cook a 26 pound turkey every thanksgiving for lots of people so my parents were overly cautious with the oven. They were soo worried they were going to overcook or undercook it.

You can hear the fan going on and off in cycles, whereas my old oven had no fan, so the noise level I was comparing it to was that.
