Maternity Clothes
Well I don't fit into my regular clothes anymore and I NEED to go shopping.
I always thought when you bought maternity clothes, the clothes grow with you throughout the whole 9 months, like if you bought something now, it'll fit you at the end. But now I'm thinking that's not the case, because I looked at a pair of sweatpants, size M and they didn't look any different (they didn't look maternity) then the pair I have at home that I don't fit in.
Anyway, I was wondering what kind of clothes do I buy?, what size? (I was a size 8) and how many? I felt overwhelmed and got discouraged and bought nothing.

Re: Maternity Clothes
I'm an 8 (med) on the bottom and 6 (small) up top before pg. I bought mostly small maternity tops, and most of them still fit, but some are a little snug because my boobs got bigger. ANd I've bought Med Old Navy pants that fit great!! I bought some Motherhood pants, but I hated them.
In the beginning I liked the roll top, low rise or real waist (just had elastic) pants. Now at 32 weeks the low rise I have a hard time keeping up. So I got some full panel pants.
Hope that helps a little. I was so overwhelmed inthe beginning too. I didn't buy mat. clothes for awhile.

Re: Maternity Clothes
Sweatpants generally will fit throughout because they're meant to go under your belly. All the maternity velour sweats I've tried are too short on me, so one day when I was really annoyed about it I tried on a pair I already own and they fit fine because they are so low rise.
Most of the pants I bought will fit me through the end. The tops not as much, but that didn't matter to me since I started wearing maternity clothes in the summer and I'm due in the winter. All my summer tops are size small, all my winter tops are mediums.

I am about the same size pre pregnancy.
When I first started growing out of stuff at about 10 weeks I just bought a few pairs of pants the next size up so a size 10. Shirts I was fine. At 16 weeks I needed all maternity. I bought small tops and medium pants. At about 28 or 29 weeks things started getting too small and I had to retire a lot of my "early" maternity clothes which isnt too bad as we are in the midst of the season change. Now at 30 weeks I am in Medium / Large tops and large pants, I will say though I have a big belly. I popped at 17 weeks and got tons of comments about how far along I was and how many babies were in there. It has slowed down but I am all belly really.
I bought 1 pair of maternity pants from Kohls that grow with you, they have slides on the side. I couldnt wear them early on but by about 18 weeks they were good and now I have just let them out a few times. I also look at JC Penney as they have a nice clearance rack and I got 2 pairs of work pants for like $12 each. Its hard because until you start to grow, you have no clue how you will carry and what will fit.

Re: Maternity Clothes
I found that the clothes I bought in my regular size didnt last the whole time. I started buying clothes one size bigger, and all of it has lasted me the whole time.
I would just go and try some on, and get some stuff that has room to grow.

Re: Maternity Clothes
100% of my early PG weight gain was in my hips, so I didn't follow conventional sizing and buy pre-pregnancy size. I tried everything on before I bought it. By 12 weeks I bought 1 pr jeans, 1 pr cargo pants that convert to capris, and 1 pr work pants that most definitely grow with you (they have zippers on both sides w/ fabric panels and straps w/ buttons to change sizes). Around 16 weeks I bought 1 pr shorts and two-three maternity shirts. All my other stuff I got from other PG people that no longer needed it.

Re: Maternity Clothes
What I found was that shirts I took the same size pre-pregnancy. I am 28 weeks and I still have a lot of room to grow in them so I am hoping I dont have to move up a size later in the pregnancy. People are telling me that i am not that big though so that might be why. Although, I feel like a house!
Pants - PrePregnancy I wear a 4 or a 6. I found that mediums are a little loose on me but smalls are a little snug, so I have been buying mediums. I am constantly pulling them up, but I also feel that they will last thru-out the entire pregnancy.
I went to a store called Honey Due in Woodbury and the owner (who is also pregnant!) helped me pick out a few basics and helped me with the sizes. It is a little pricey compared to the Gap or Old Navy, but well worth it in my opinion for a couple of key things like dress pants and nice tops.
Good luck!

Re: Maternity Clothes
I am about a size 6-8 depending on the fit in prepregnanct clothes and I bought mediums in pants and shirts.
I am hoping I dont put too much more weight in my hips and thighs, so they will fit as the belly gets bigger

Re: Maternity Clothes
I was size 2-4 on the bottom and XS/S on top. They say to buy your pre-preggo size in maternity clothes but I def. need M tops and and pants I've bought (depending on the fit) anywhere from 4, small to medium. I bought a pr of 2's on clearance w/o trying them on and they are NOT attractive on me . I've gained about 12lbs so far (seems like all in my hips and boobs).
I tried to get a lot of mix n match items and broke down and bought one good suit. Tops I don't necessarily need maternity - but def at least a size up.

Re: Maternity Clothes
I inherited from girlfriends a bunch of stuff that will probably fit me in the 3rd trimester, as I am a little smaller than they are. I bought a few things in smaller sizes to wear now.
