an RE question

what are things that have made you decide to try a different RE? How did you know your RE was the right one for you?

Re: an RE question

the first RE i went to had zero bedside manners and got annoyed when I asked her questions. After one cycle i moved on to a different RE. For all of us who have to go thru infertility it is important to feel absolutely comfortable with your DR.

Re: an RE question

My first RE didn't really answer a lot of my questions and when I requested a test or different technique, they (cuz I hardly ever saw my Dr.) told me it wasn't necessary.

When I talked to different RE's for second opinions all of them were surprised I didn't have certain tests done, but Dr. K was literally PO'd.
Anyway, I went with him and stayed with him cuz he does answer all my questions and will do tests or procedures at my request even if he doesn't think it's necessary.

Re: an RE question

I knew my RE was the right one for me for several reasons. He always took the time to explain (in detail) what would be happening with the various procedures and with my body. He always returned my calls within the day. And he had a terrific bedside manner. When I miscarried, he stayed with me and DH while we cried and even hugged me.

Re: an RE question

I believe i'm on my 8th RE. My first 2 weren't knowledgeable on PCOS. It's hard to say b/c at different stages in my life I've needed different things from them. First was to diagnose me--- which was actually done by my mom rather than a dr.
Then was to get all of the tests to confirm that I did in fact have PCOS. Then to monitor it and get it under control. Then to "get my body ready" to have kids (haha-- still working on that one) and now to actually get pregnant.
Some of my RE's were too hard to get appointments with- and had office staffs that were very unorganized. Others were too hard to get to (I had one in uptown manhattan when I lived in queens that have VERY limited hours).
My next one focused more on the diabetic aspect of things rather than PCOS.. and then I finallly found my dr. who I think is very knowledgable, and who I've never had a problem with. I just wish i could see him every time rather than being bounced back and forth b/t him and his business partner.

Re: an RE question

After failing 3x at one place I thought it was time to move on. I never had the best feeling about the place or or the Dr. but what did I know. They took my very limited insurance and I did not know anyone who had done it before so I went there. After the 3rd failed IVF I said something has to give and I started to look into other RE. So far I like this place.

Re: an RE question

I am not doing IVF but I see an RE-Dr Lydic. It has taken him a long time to warm up as I think he is that type of person. We have somewhat of an understanding now. He knows I question and research every little thing and he is used to it. (in other words I am a pain in the azz) He took very good care of me when I had my ectopic so I do like hium better since then...
