Water Bill

We just received a $400 water bill for 94 days from our investment home.

The one we received prior to that was $182.

DH thinks it is due to a leaky toilet bowl, as does the water department.

Any suggestions/ ideas?

A usual water bill should be around 25-30 per quarter.

Not only is it costing us a fortune, but it is SOO bad for the environment.

Thanks!

We had the same problem and it was worth it to have a plumber in to replace the pipes and toilet. In January the water company sent out a newsletter that said what the average bill in our water district was last year, our January bill alone was more than that average number. It's been a dramatic difference since we had the work done.

WOW...that seems high

Our water bill...is highest during the summer because of the water sprinkers.

Re: Water Bill

If its from the toilet, I would replace the toilet!
That will cost you about $150-$200.

That high increase over what it normally is seems so high to be just from a toilet. We have a leaky toilet Chat Icon and haven't replaced it yet and our water bill is no more than $25 every 3 months! It would be a lot less than that if we ever fix it Chat Icon I would look into other sources too.

I agree. Do you have IGS - could there be a leak there?
