Re: sterilized everything last night
Oy, we don't even have anything to sterilize, or wash. And DH wonders why I'm not crazy about having the shower a few days before my c-section. He doesn't understand the things that need to be done. He didn't even know the carseat had to be inspected.

Re: sterilized everything last night
I usually am too... comes with being a Virgo. DH thought I was nuts to want the nursery painted and furniture put together NOW! He's like "We have a month". He's the biggest procrastinator. I said "Where will the baby sleep... in our drawer?" (we're hoping to start her in her crib from day 1, we'll see about that).
If it were up to me, I'd have EVERYTHING by now. I'm so tempted to go out and buy some necessities, just to be somewhat prepared. I want our carseat now too.

Re: sterilized everything last night
Isnt it too soon to sterlize stuff? I mean if it is ok now, will it still be clean and sterlized by the time the baby is born? Wont germs settle on it by then?

You can dry the stuff and put them in ziplock bags...its better to be prepared and have everything done to the T...trust me...when you come home from the hospital it is CHAOS...Michael arrived unexpectedly and I still had some things unprepared...like the bouncy chair...I was putting that together in the middle of the night while he was fussing...NOT fun.

Wow....you are way ahead of me and I'm due before you LOL. I haven't had my shower yet but actually I think it's good you started sterlizing. Time flies and things always have a way of creeping up.

Once they are sterilized they are sterilized. Of course the need to be washed once baby gets home but they dont; need to be sterilized again. unless I'm wrong?

Yeah, but the baby will be living with the germs in your house. Will you be keeping the baby in a sterilized room?

Re: sterilized everything last night
As a BTDT mother, I think you will have to sterilize them again before you actually use them. I wouldn't risk it with a newborn.

Re: sterilized everything last night
what about the whole plastic bottles/chemicals thing? I'm not sure if I'm going to sterilize my bottles or just wash them very thoroughly. i heard you can release the chemicals when you sterilize them and I don't have any glass bottles.

So if the baby is in my house with the GERMS from my house.. then why need the bag? Yes my baby will be in a sterlized room.. Come on now was this sort of response necessary!

Re: sterilized everything last night
hmmm...i am using drop ins so i am not sterilizing and releasing chemicals where the baby will drink from...but yea i guess if you used reg bottled the heatr can release chemicals, im not sure...im going with the ziplock bag though, i think it should be sufficiant but everyone has to do what they are comfortable with, like i said im not so much worried about the germs getting in the ziplock bag as i am with whatver foreign material was on from the factory...

Thats what I'm saying. How was my response not necessary? I was asking a question. Are you really having a sterlized room? How do you go about doing that?
