Just needed to vent..
To make a long story short, with so many parties coming up for my family, I'm getting the short end of the stick.
In other words, my mom is so preoccupied with my dad's and grandma's birthday parties that she told my best friend that she didn't know what was going to happen with "that".
Since when did my baby shower become a "that"????
Getting pg was a long and hard process for me and this should be the most exciting, enjoyable time in my life, and all I feel is like a second class citizen in my mother's eyes.

ETA: there is so much more to the story regarding my mom and her attitude toward her children, but that's for another Dr. Phil episode.

I'm sorry to hear that. Aren't Moms strange sometimes! Now that we're all going to be one, lets vow to not be that way! I love my mom to death, but sometimes I wonder....
Can your DH talk to your friends and plan the shower?

Nope. I'm planning my dad's party and my family is pitching in for my G'ma's party. My bff was very honest this morning when she told me what my mom had said.
My mom isn't even paying for my dad's party..I am along with my sisters, and she's splitting the cost of my grandma's party with my uncles and aunts.

I know that my friends will do something for me, but for me that's not the point. I guess I thought that my mom would want to contribute and be involved.
My bff said that she can do a friends shower at someone's house, but with the large family that I come from, she won't be able to accodomate everyone. That's where my mom should have come in.

I'm sorry about your Mom and her attitude towards your shower. 
While my mother is really interested in her grandchild-to-be, there have been other times in my life when her reaction has disappointed me (like my wedding), so I know how you feel. Just try your best to focus on your friends and others who support you and make you feel good at this time.
