Anyone have a shower out of state?
Since all of my family and most of my friends are still in NY, my shower is going to be there (I live in NC). How did you get all the gifts home? We will have 2 cars heading back down to NC afterwards. Will this be enough room to bring all my gifts home?

Re: Anyone have a shower out of state?
I live in GA and had my shower in NY. Since my shower was christmas week all the big ticket items were shipped to my house ( I assumed it was for christmas gifts before I knew about my 'surprise' ) All the other stuff was shipped home, fit in several suitcases and my IL's drove the remainder down in their car a month later. So I think 2 cars should be ok (one with the big stuff and the other with all the little items). enjoy!

Re: Anyone have a shower out of state?
I think my sister may be telling the guests that they can ship big items or call the store here in Raleigh to order it and I can pick it up here. I am scared how much it will be to ship everything myself. My in-laws are coming down for Christmas but I am not sure if they are driving or flying. That would be helpful if they were driving so they could bring more down with them but I have a feeling they are flying.

Re: Anyone have a shower out of state?
I live in Chicago and my shower was in NY. People who got us the big stuff shipped them to Chi. I got mostly clothes and gift cards at the actual shower. I hate the tradition of sitting in front of people opening presents, so it worked out really well. I was able to spend more time talking to people I don't see that often.
ETA: Most people will (or should be) mindful of the fact that you live OOS. Most people called my mom to ask what to do. She told them to either send them to Chicago or give us a gift card.

I agree. I would rather spend more time with my guests than opening gifts, especially since I don't get to see them all that often.

Re: Anyone have a shower out of state?
I have attended a few of these and will have one myself someday. I would put in the invitation something about being OOS and request that gifts get shipped to your house.

I will have to ask my sister later if she already mailed the invites.

Re: Anyone have a shower out of state?
I live in NY, but my MIL will be throwing a shower for me in MD (my fam. is Jewish, so we don't really do showers). I think they will most likely load up our car with whatever fits and bring the rest up when the baby arrives. I won't be keeping the stuff in my apt. anyway, so it doesn't really matter for me.
Sorry - not really helpful, but that's my OOS situation.
