In a quandry... need help/advice
I went to my second doctors appointment on Tuesday and my doctor did the first sono. He said everything looks perfect and we saw the baby's heart beat which was really neat. But I found out that night that my doctor no longer delivers babies!!! I had no idea! He used to. My mom and I have been seeing him for years and she didn't know it either.
Anyway, I see him in his levittown office usually, but found out he doesn't do sono's there so I have to go all the way up to Glen Cove for the sono's which is far for me now that I live in Islip. I got home after 10pm on tuesday night from a 7:15 appointment. My doctor is always running late too. Needless to say, I was exhausted after I got home and I ended up not going to work the next day. I have another sono appt. in Glen Cove on the 16th and I'm dreading going because it makes for such a long day.
So what he would do is see me through out my whole pregnancy and then when I was about to deliver he would hand me off to another dr. to deliver my baby. I'm not crazy about this idea. He suggested 4 hospitals to deliver at, LIJ, North Shore Manhasset, Winthrop, and Stony Brook. But really recommended North Shore Manhasset. My question is does anybody have a OB they see that they like that also delivers at NS Manhasset???
Or even a dr. they really like? At this point I don't know what I'm doing and would appreciate any good advice or recommendations. TIA!!!! Sorry so long. What a pain in the a$$ when you not feeling good either.

this exact thing happened to my friend as well. Luckily she ended up having a great experience with the covering doctors, and now I see them
I use Drs. Hanauer & Dolisi in Garden City. They deliver at Winthrop. They are both incredible doctors, and are very patient and caring. They both visited me multiple times a day when I was recovering and even checked on my little guy when he was in the nursery!

My dr. is in West Islip and I HIGHLY recommend him. He delivers at Good Sam. If you live in Islip, both should be convenient for you, much more than Glen Cove .
I dont think I would be comfortable seeing a dr. for 9 months and then having a different dr. deliver my child.
FM me if you want the info. Good luck!

I also have a great group of OB's in West Islip. I wonder if they are the same as the above poster?

I went through almost the same thing (my OB stopped delivering as well, but I was already 15 weeks along when it happened). There is NO way I would see one MD for 9 months and then be handed off to someone else at the crucial moment.

My OB, Dr. Anita Sadaty (with Great Neck Obstetrics) delivers at NSU Manhasset. She's great and is highly reccomended by my internist and pulmonologist.
