Need ideas for a gift

Next week we're going to visit my best friend and his gf in Chicago. We're staying with them for 3 days and I kow they're buying food for us, etc. I've never been to their place before, and I'd like to get them something as a housewarming/thank you. They're not married or engaged so there's no registry. They have kind of eclectic taste. My friend really a wacky funny guy, so I honestly don't even know how they'd have their place decorated except that they have a statue of a bulldog which they swear looks like samuel l jackson, and they put sunglasses on it (just to give you an idea of the wackiness). I don't mind spending $$, he's my best friend and we're saving a lot byt staying at their place and not at a hotel.

ANy thoughts?

How about taking the couple out to a nice dinner while you are there? I've done that before...

Last time we stayed with friends like that, we brought a nice bottle of wine and treated them to dinner while we were there.
