I found a dead mouse
under my kitchen sink the other night.
i'm still sick to my stomach.
the worst part is i found mouse droppings in one of the other cabinets now i'm convinced they are running amuck in the house.
of course DH is at sea for all of this

Get some rat poison and set it under the cabinets and along the perimeter of your house on the outside and in a basement (if you have them).
Also, check every cabinet in the kitchen to see if they got into any other cabinets!

Do you have any pets? Don't do this if you have pets!
I prefer humane traps and then letting them go outside - but most people don't like to do this. You need to find where they are coming into your house though, or no matter what you do, they will never go away.

Stuff steel wool into the opening where the pipes come up through the cabinet. They won't chew/crawl through the steel wool and that will help keep them out of the cabinet. They may still be in the walls but it helps control them. Also look for openings in the outside of the house to see where they are getting in. They can come in through an opening the size of a dime.

thanks, i'm pretty sure they are coming in through underneath the sink. previous owners did a crappy renovation, there's huge gaping holes that go right outside. There may as well be a Welcome sign under there.

They have mouse traps at Home Depot that humanly trap the mice, then you let them go somewhere. But don't use poison - pets and kids could get a hold of it!

Better a dead mouse than a live one! Stuff the hole with steal wool and set traps. In my old apt I found one under the bathroom sink-so gross. Good luck

Yeah...definitely avoid poisons at all cost - not only for pets, but my reason...what if they decide to crawl up & die in my walls... the smell!
Definitely plug up all holes w/steel wool. We just did that too. Also, so far so good - believe it or not those ultrasonic things you plug in work great! I went to Target last week & stocked up. I bought one for each room & two large ones for the LR/DR & kitchen. So far...so good!
