CD3 tests - what happens?

Tomorrow I am going for CD3 tests. I have never had this done before. What happens at this appointment? I know I get an internal sono, what else? And what are they looking for?

As a side note, this is the worst AF I can remember in a long time. I have horrible cramps and I am suprised I have not passed out from the amount of bloodChat Icon . Is this because its my first "natural" period since Feb?

Re: CD3 tests - what happens?

They will take your medical/AF history, etc. (if they haven't done that already). The actual CD3 testing is just bloodwork so that's no problem. The internal sono is also no big deal, just a wand thing that they stick up there and you can see your uterus/ovaries on the little screen.

Sorry about your bad AF...I'd say it might have something to do with the fact that its been so long.

Good luck and keep us posted!

ETA the bloodwork is to measure your hormone levels. they are getting a "baseline" hormone level and sono to determine how your treatment is going, depending on what you do you will probably have to go back later in your cycle so they can compare it. They will also check your ovarian reserve/egg quality by the hormone measurements today. When they call you with the results ask for the numbers...my RE only gives the numbers if I ask.

Re: CD3 tests - what happens?

Thanks Carolyn!
Last time I was there they took all of my history, so thats taken care of.
I had an internal sono back in may by ob/gyn so I know what to expect with that - kinda gross while AF is here, but I guess they're used to that, right?

Ahh.. more bloodwork. By the time I get pg I'll have no more blood Chat Icon

They will test fsh(egg quantity related) LH(check for PCOS or other issues) and estrogen usually. I have had 19 vials taken from me at once 2X and I didn't feel anything so you should be fine

I think they took 8 or 9 last time I was there and I thought that was a lot!!
And I had to get stuck in both arms because my first one stopped!

I already know I have PCOS, and I had all that blood taken two weeks ago, but I guess they have to check what all the levels are at different stages in my cycle?
