What is the appropriate gift?
Question..
My sister has a sweet sixteen to go to for one of her students. She is a dance teacher and has taught this girl since she was about 4 years old. Its being held at a place in Long Island City that isnt exactly a reception hall but isnt an American Legion either.
What do you think an appropriate amount to give as a gift would be?
TIA

Re: What is the appropriate gift?
I may be cheap, but I would say $75-$100. Or a GC to her favorite store for that amt.

Re: What is the appropriate gift?
I would spend $150-$175 on something from Tiffany & Co. So it is something special and not as awkward as giving a student cash, JMO.

Re: What is the appropriate gift?
My friend went to one a few months ago and gave a Coach wallet with a $50 GC inside it. The wallet wasn't THAT expensive because she got it on sale at the outlet. Maybe she could give a wristlet that looks a bit youthful? Maybe like this one, and then she can decide if she wants to include $ or a GC or nothing since she is already giving an nice gift.

Re: What is the appropriate gift?
My best friend's sister's sweet sixteen was a few years ago and I got her a pretty heart shaped necklace from swarovski for about $75. It was something nice and shinny she could wear as she got older but not as expensive as diamonds.

I would spend $75-$100. It's not a wedding.
