Anyone else freaking out?

I feel like there is no way I am mature or responsible enough for a child.
Sometimes, when I come home from work, all I do is sit on the couch. And I HATE cleaning. I am a lazy slob.
Someone please tell me that thsi will all change? That I will become motivated, although busy, and responsible and stuff?

Re: Anyone else freaking out?

I know exactly how you feel. I am a total slob who can barely take care of myself. DH and I leave our clothes on the floor, our dishes in the sink, and both HATE to clean.

First, we said we'll change when we buy a house and we OWN it so we'll be more motivated to keep it nice. NOT!!!!

Then, we said when we start TTC, so that we'll be ready once we do get PG. NOT!!!!

Then, when we got PG, we said we definitely have to get our act together now!! And guess what? NOT!!!

However, what I can say is that LOVE does not come from a clean, orderly home. So, what if we're a little piggish, as long as the home is safe and clean, being a little messy is okay.

And as for being lazy, I'm sure that will change when the baby comes because you will want to do all these things for baby.

Right now DH and I are selfish and indulgent bc we can be, but we know we will be loving and great parents when the time comes.

I'll never be a beaver cleaver type of mom, but I still think I'll do the best I can!

Unfortunately, in my case- DH doesn't clean, but expects immaculateness. His mom is T-I-D-Y. Like- obsessively.
So we fight a lot about my lack of housekeeping skills.
But I think you're right- I will WANT to do things for. I look forwar to not being lazy.
I actually think I am like 80% less lazy now than I was afew years ago. So I'm on the right path.

Re: Anyone else freaking out?

Funny, I am the complete opposite. I am a neat freak and everything is always tidy and organzied. I am freaking out that I wont be able to keep my house like this once the baby is here.

The previous poster said love doesnt come from a clean orderly house seems to be true in either situation.

Good luck to us all, neat or not. Chat Icon
