2 IUI's in a row

I have a question... Why do some people have 2 IUI's done one day after the other??? I have heard of that, as well as just having it on one day??? I'm gonna have to go for one, but my doctor said I only have to do it one day. Hope someone can answer this for me...

It's a timing thing. If you haven't released the follie or follies at the time of the iui, then they'll do another one the next day as the sperm can live in there for a few days.

I did the two day in a row thing twice, and the other three times just once.

That's good to know. I had my trigger today and will have the IUI tomorrow. Last month, I had released the egg just before the IUI.

It really depends on the RE...some will do it before and after the trigger/ some will do it one day and two days after trigger and some just do one IUI 36 hours after trigger so that the timing is exact...basically they are trying to time the sperm and egg meeting perfectly. Because the sperm are washed they don't last as long inside the body so the timing is very important in an IUI.
It's one of the reasons an IUI only increases your chances of pregnancy by about 20% in most situations.

my first iui was unmedicated and they did only 1 iui. the last 2 i was on clomid and they did 2 the first one i hadn't ovulated yet and by the 2nd on i had ovulated. i like getting 2 just to cover all bases.

I used to get 2 because my DH's numbers were low. So they would always give me the option of coming back the 2nd day as long as I hadn't ovulated already.
