Back from the urologist
and we found out that DH has varicocele (like a varicose vein in the testicle) anyone else ever heard or dealt with this? He will have to have a small surgical procedure to fix it and that will hopefully improve his sa. We are going for another sa and sonogram on Sat. The Dr. sounded very confident that we would get pregnant naturally, so that made us feel good however he did say it could still take over a year which is hard to hear. We'll keep trying in the mean time because the Dr. said it's still very possible to get pregnant even though the count is low.

Re: Back from the urologist
My brother actually had this done about 8 years ago. It is not a big deal and they now have two beautiful children!

Re: Back from the urologist
Dh had bilateral varicocelectomy done in February....after 6 months we saw improvement in his SA but not dramatic...the doctor said it will take 12-18 months to see real improvements....
DH had micro surgery which is the only one that helps....and has the best improvements....
GL to you & DH...
ps check out this site (our doctor).. it has great info...http://www.maleinfertility.org/new-varicocelectomy.html, this is the only clinic in the US that deal striclty with male factor...

Re: Back from the urologist
My BIL has this problem and was told that if they wanted to conceive within the year they should go to IVF. It takes anywhere from 6 months to 2 years for the area to heal from surgery and even then there is no guarantee of a major improvement as scar tissue can develop in place of the varicocele. Make sure your Dr. discusses all options for you and decide which is best for your situation. Good luck!
