What color countertops?
If you're painting the cabinets white, what color countertops would you get? A really dark color, a light color? I was thinking of a nice not too light or dark grayish color?

Re: What color countertops?
Do you have a wall color and flooring in mind? Those may have a factor in colors. What color appliances?

No, we don't have a wall color yet and the flooring is a dark wood floor. Appliances are mostly stainless steel. We're working on the dishwasher, it's white.

Re: What color countertops?
I know you are doing this to sell the house so all I can say is NEUTRAL, NEUTRAL, NEUTRAL. Keep it very simple. If the floor is a darker color with light white cabinets, I'd do a lighter counter in the brown, neutral family. Something like a faux granite.
Also, make sure your appliances match. Mismatched appliances stick out like a sore thumb. Buyers will notice and assume a lack of attention to detail which makes them assume there is a lack of attention to detail caring for the home/house could have hidden issues. Get a stainless steel panel for the dishwasher (contact the manufacturer) or spend the $$$ to replace it.
I'd also upgrade the cabinet hardware. It's a nice touch and can make your cabinets seem newer and give a more expensive look to the kitchen.
In this market you need to make sure every detail is taken care of and leave no dobt in the buyers mind.
Good luck.

My mom just did her kitchen with dark hardwood floors, white cabinets and white appliances. She just had her granite installed in the color below and it's BEAUTIFUL!! I agree with going 'neutral' (this is very neutral) but I personally would stay away from brown on white cabinets.

Re: What color countertops?
We are also doing black granite - we haven't picked the exact piece b/c we aren't closing until next week.
I am doing dark wood floor, white cabinets & black granite with either white subway tiles or glass subway tiles.
I like the black & white or the mottled granite that was posted above.

Re: What color countertops?
My in laws have white cabinets, and a black granite. The granite actually has some green in it. They have wood floors and stainless steel appliances. The white cabinets look really nice with a black granite. You could also do a nice light granite with gray, and browns in it. I wouldn't go too light with white cabinets.

Re: What color countertops?
I would do a darker counter but a "rich" paint color on the wall. Exp: White cabs, dark wood floor, dark grey, blue or blk counter, and a rich yellow or creamy tan color. I would choose a "warm" color from the color wheel instead of a "cool" color when it comes to paint color for the walls. Hope this helps
