Katie's Big Day

About a month shy of her 2nd birthday Katie was given freedom to roam the house. She did great! Normally I keep her gated in the kitchen.
So I decided to reward her and bring her to Petco to get a toy. I also pick out a new harness- she hates the one she has and won't walk with it. So she is just wearing a collar. As we approach the line there is a woman with a parrot on her shoulder. Katie gets excited whines and jumps a little. The woman pays and walks out of the store... Katie flips out and backs out of her collar and runs out the store! I almost had a heart attack. She has never done something like that before. She went into terrier hunting mode (she has never been like this) and did not listen to me at all. TG the man picked her up for me. She will never leave the house again without a harness.

My dog gets out of a flat collar whenever we use one. We only use either a harness or a greyhound collar. It's scary when they get out of the collar!!
