Re: do u think its wrong to

DH was superstitous too b4 we closed saying nothing was official until we signed the papers...so I understand.

Personally I'd say wait, only b/c things may not be how you remember it from the walkthrough (if your talking decorating stuff)

Also there are going to be a million things you need that you didn't consider b4 so definitely budget what you need & what may have to wait.

Good luck!

Re: do u think its wrong to

we bought living room and dining room furniture before we closed on the house. Acutally, we put a deposit down on the furniture....so that we could hold the sale price and then if the furniture didnt fit we could use the deposit for something else

We did that too, now that we did close we see we have to figure something out w/ the br set b/c it'll be tight.

Believe me I like to shop too, but I'm glad we mostly waited for when we're in.

You'll be in soon...hang in there.

Re: do u think its wrong to

I'm very cautious so we've bought nothing yet. But that hasn't stopped me from making a list of all potential purchases and creating a registry at Home Depot.com to keep track of it all. Chat Icon

I would only really purchase the things that we will need for any house. A ladder, tarps, paintbrushes, rollers, gutter extenders, that kind of thing.

So if (God forbid) it doesn't work out for some reason, we'll still have things we know we must have/use for any house. Chat Icon

Re: do u think its wrong to

I don't think it's wrong. I almost did it, but then I waited b/c I was afraid I'd jinx something!

We definitely shopped for things, but we waited until the weekend after the closing to buy them. The problem was we wound up buying a TON of stuff we had picked out the weekend after the wedding. Chat Icon New appliances, a ton of stuff off our completion registry from the wedding, etc., etc. Chat Icon

I bought a few small things but, did a lot of browsing mainly. We are still buying stuff that we "need" now!

Like SweetCin said, things do look different once you are in so it's good not to buy too much or get things you can return if you change your mind!

Re: do u think its wrong to

The only things we bought ahead of time were new locks, blinds for the windows and cleaning supplies.

Once inside the house, we reviewed the budget to see what was afforable to do.
