At your first OB appt...
... did your MD do a sono? I'm going to be 6 weeks when we have our first appointment and my DH is SOO looking forward to getting a little bean picture for his wallet.. I don't want to crush his hopes but I'm not sure we're going to be so lucky as to get a sono this first visit..
Anyone know?

Yes we had a sono done at our first visit.
ETA: my first visit was at 4.5 weeks
my second visit was at 7.5 weeks had a sono at both because the doctor couldn't see anything at the first visit

I went at 6 weeks and we didn't have the sono. They said that early sometimes they can't hear the heart beat yet and I didn't want to worry. I went back and had the sono at 8 weeks.

I had my 1st sono at my 6 week appointment and we heard the heartbeat too!

I had my first visit at 5 1/2 weeks and my second at 7 1/2 weeks. Both times I had a sono. First pic was just a little dark sac with a tiny spot, no heartbeat. Second sono was more of a little bean and we got to see the heartbeat!

My doctor didn't even want to see me til I was 8 weeks because they can't always see the heartbeat on the sono before that & rather than worrying DH & me, she opted to hold off til then.

We had our first appointment at 8 weeks (they wouldnt take us before that), had an internal sono and got great pics.

I think every MD is different. I had a sono at my first appointment 5 weeks 6 days. It was just two tiny dots and one blinked (heartbeat). I had my second today at ten weeks.

I have a dr appt on Wednesday...they made a separate appt for a sonogram for me.
Do they usually tell you ahead of time you will have a sono?!?! Maybe since they didn't tell you...you might not have one...not sure though!

I had one at 6 1/2 weeks, it was so nice to see the heartbeat and know everything was ok, the baby is so little that its kinda hard to make out its features so don't be disappointed if your sono pic isn't that great. Mine looked like a blob--lol

Yes but my doctor doesnt see patients until 8 weeks, not sure what they'd see at 6 weeks.
