i had it
and it wasnt fun!
i went in they did the sono and i still hadnt ovulated yet...i had one follicle 14 and the other 15.5. they said they would do the iui, give me the shot and then i would have to come back for another iui tomorrow. i felt her put the speculum (?) in and it must have touched my cervix and i said wow im done she said um no not yet. she said you might feel some cramping but i think i felt a few stars. it wasnt agony pain but it wasnt fun. she had to try a different cathether and i was sweating looking at my husband. the other one went in quick and the stars werent as bad. i dont know how the catheters are different. maybe bc i didnt ovulate yet the cath hurt. yikes! dh sperm count was good 60 something million and they put 20 million good ones in. i layed on the table for 5 minutes before the nurse came to give me the hcg shot. at least that was in the belly and the needle was tiny. so now i have to call the office in the morning. i dont know what to do though dh has to go in to the firehouse tomorrow and he is on building inspection so he can't "produce" out in the field....lol. since i ovulated this month, maybe we could get away with bding. i have some cramping, that is normal right?

Re: i had it
The cramping is normal from what I have heard but I thought follicles had to be over 20mm to be mature?

Re: i had it
those are very small to be mature. The HCG will make them grow a bit so we'll and send you some

Re: i had it
i'm surprised they did the IUI with follices of that size. I thought they liked to trigger when they were >17mm. have you been doing the OPKs? tomorrow is 3 days after your last Clomid, right? You could start to use them pretty reliably then to see if you get a surge on them...or are they sure you had an LH surge but haven't O'ed just yet? I think another IUI is a good idea, if you can arrange it with DH. best of luck!

i dont understand myself. i was told i got a surge based on my blood work. the follicles sounded small too because wehn i read about them or any of your experiences the size has usually been at least 20.

Re: i had it
I really don't understand what is going on here...and I go to LI-IVF and have never had a problem having my questions answered. You need to get a consult or at least a phone call with Dr. Brenner ASAP and find out what the H*ll is going on. This is your body and you need to find out what the flock they are doing.
I'm sorry, but at this point I would be fuming - and not on these boards - I would be on the phone with the Dr. and demand a return call with some explanations. They aren't supposed to do anything without the Drs. go ahead so he should be able to give you clear answers ....or find another RE.

Re: i had it
Yeah, I agree. I don't understand why they did an IUI at all without doing the trigger first? And your follies weren't really big enough.
I would DEFINITELY talk to the RE immediately. Don't settle for a nurse, either.
Good luck...

Re: i had it
Yeah Im a little confused. Usually you do the HCG the night before and then go in the next day for the IUI.
Those follies do seem a little small, usually they should be at least 18cm. I would defintely call your doctor. Good Luck!!
