SO: Star Packets
We just moved into our house back in March. I know you file around Dec. Should I just get the Star packet or do I have to send out or pick it up...how does this work? Thanks so much I don't want to not file, we need it!

the packet I'm talking about is not for your annual STAR tax reduction, that is done through your town hall. I'm talking about the rebate they offer, in past years it just got mailed out, this year you need to apply but can only do so once you've received a packet in the mail.

I just want to make sure I'm getting this right, on top of the reduction that is automatically put onto your school tax bill, there is an additional rebate you can apply for if you make under $250k?
This Star thing is quite confusing, I guess they make it that way so that not everyone applies for it!

ITA! I am so confused..My dad said it would be in Dec. I don't want to miss it but I don't know what to miss??

We just received our Star packet about a week ago (moved into our house a month ago). Did the town send you anything regarding taxes? We got a notice we needed to fill out a few weeks ago, and I'm assuming that's how someone knew to send us the Star packet.

We're in Rockland County and we got the Star Rebate letter yesterday.
